The "+" side of the battery should be facing the opening on the fob, and the "-" side should be facing the rubber buttons. Replace the cover of the passenger's side mirror by aligning locating tabs. Once you have completed this, insert the driver side fob back in your vehicle and test it by pressing the button on the front of the car key. You can easily do this by pressing the "Fiat" red button on the front of your key fob. Pressing the button will open an lever that permits you to remove the switch for ignition on your key (1). After you remove the metal keys you will discover an unassuming silver metal switch with images of a padlock that are locked and unlocked beside it. This is the key fob battery switch. It is simple to replace the battery by turning the switch half turn with a small screwdriver with a flat head. The key fob contains a microchip which communicates with the Body Control Module. When you insert the key in your Fiat car, it presses the ignition switch, which serves as a "key-in-ignition" reminder. The BCM will then be capable of reading the transponder that is in the key fob and verify that it's valid.
