The Boeing 777 is a wide-body twin-engine jet airliner produced by Boeing Commercial Airplanes. The 777 family of aircraft is designed for long-haul flights with a range of 555 to 7,600 nautical miles (1,800 to 14,400 km), and is the best-selling commercial airplane of all time with over 600 orders from airlines worldwide. Its distinctive features include an extended raked wingtip, composite wings, and GE90-family engines.

The FAA has issued a proposed airworthiness directive (AD) on 25 July, 2023, that it says builds on previous efforts to prevent 777 fuel tank fires and explosions caused by fault current or lightning strikes. It would require US airlines flying 777 variants to install Teflon sleeves on wire bundles and perform inspections of fasteners on the left, right, and centre fuel tanks, along with their right cheek portion. The AD also seeks to address other potential risk factors such as unattended electrical wires and open electrical terminals on the fuel cell cover.

In the aftermath of the crash of TWA 800, a 747-100, in 1996, the FAA required manufacturers to prove that their 777s could resist fuel-tank ignition due to lightning strikes. Since then, no 777s have experienced such an event, but the new FAA proposal warns that the fuel tanks could still be at risk of ignited by fault current or lightning, and it requires airlines to follow steps laid out in a service bulletin by Boeing.

Airliners use a lot of fuel. The B747 burns about 30T per hour at takeoff power, but it climbs fast and the consumption goes down to around 12T when in cruise. But the amount depends on a lot of variables such as the cruising altitude, payload and many other things. Jet fuel is expensive and the average price for a flight is about $2 to $4 per gallon.

The 777 is named for its seven-seat configuration, and its winglets, or wingtiplets, resemble the numeral 7. It has won numerous awards and is a benchmark in commercial aviation. The 777 is often referred to as the “Triple Seven.” Its nickname has even become a popular name for certain companies. The 777 is used by some governments for VIP transportation. For example, the Malaysian government uses it for the transport of heads of state. The 777 has been used in several wars, and it is expected to continue serving militaries worldwide. It was the first aircraft to fly across the Pacific Ocean and land in Australia. A 777 was also used in the rescue of survivors from the Tsunami in 2004. The 777 is the world’s longest-range twin-engine jetliner. It has a range of 6,430 miles (10,700 km), and can seat up to 340 passengers. https://139.162.28.206 includes a large cargo hold and a wide aisle, making it suitable for longer haul flights. The 777 is also the largest passenger aircraft to have a dual vertical stabilizers. This feature increases stability and safety during flight. The Boeing 777 has also been used by the United States Coast Guard for search and rescue operations.
